On this day last year

This morning, I decided to look back through my photos to find out what I was up to on this date last year. My search brought me to a wonderful memory: our daughter bringing home her first reader from kindergarten.

This photo brings back the smile on her face as she presented me with the book, the excitement in her voice as she asked me to sit down and listen to her read, and the joy I felt in my heart while watching her confidence soar with each turned page.

She brought a gift home that day.

Storytelling: Getting a Puppy

The time spent waiting for our puppy to be old enough to come home to us was full of excitement.

We counted the days,

and waited,

and waited. Until, finally, she was home with us!

We had no idea how much we’d love her,

how much joy and laughter (and mischief) she’d bring to our lives,

and how quickly she would become part of our family.

Having our little Honey in our lives is such an incredible gift, for all of us.

Storytelling: Sharing Stories

We all have stories to share.

Some stories share adventure and

history from long ago;

some stories express friendship and love;

some of our stories are being created and coming to life on paper;

some stories are just being captured, to be shared with loved ones.

I wonder which stories from today will be shared, enjoyed, and treasured in the years to come.

Storytelling: The Last Days of Preschool

During our youngest daughter’s last year of preschool, I found myself needing to capture the day-to-day activities of preschool–and how things changed throughout the year–in photos.

Taking photos was a way for me to say goodbye to the school and the teachers who had such a positive impact on our children, and to remember all the joy and growth our children experienced as well.

The artwork is taken downand the art projects are sent home,

the pumpkin seeds that were planted

have sprouted and are now ready to be planted at home,

the teacher has played the last goodbye song of the school year on her autoharp,

and, on the final day of preschool, the hallway is quiet and awaiting the next school year.
